Q. Will I have to pay for Physiotherapy treatment?

A. If your injury is the result of an accident and ACC agree to subsidise your treatment the ACC subsidy will not cover the full price of treatment. You will be required to pay  a co-payment  charge for treatment. There may be additional charges for materials, e.g. strapping or acupuncture needles.

If your application for treatment is declined by ACC, Action Physiotherapy will invoice you for the whole cost of the treatment.

Q. Do I need a referral from my doctor?

A. No. You can simply make an appointment with Action Physiotherapy by contacting us directly.

A doctor’s referral is not necessary but  you may be referred by a  Doctor or Specialist .

Q. Do you treat ACC Clients?

A. Action Physiotherapy is an ACC Accredited Service Provider. As such we are an approved supplier of physiotherapy treatments to ACC clients.

Q. What are your business hours?

A. Our Lower Hutt clinics are open from 7:30am to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday. Our Porirua City clinics are open from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.Our Wellington Clinic is open  8am to 6pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 7.30am to 3pm Tusday and Thursday.

Q. How long does an appointment take?

A. A typical physiotherapy appointment takes between 20 to30 minutes.

Q. How many treatments would I need?

A. A course of physiotherapy normally takes around 5 sessions of treatment.

Q. Are your clinics wheelchair accessible?

A. Yes, our clinics are easily accessed by wheelchair, and there is plenty of off-street parking in the Hutt and  Whitby.There is a car park bulding very close to the Wellington Clinic.

Q. What should I wear to my appointment?

A. Action Physiotherapy provides everything required for your appointment, including gowns, shorts and blankets. However you are welcome to bring your own gown or shorts if you find this more comfortable.

Q. What if I have to cancel my appointment?

A. Please telephone and advise us if you find yourself unable to attend an appointment. We do request a minimum of two hours notice of cancelllation of an appointment. Appointments not cancelled at least two hours before the appointment time  may incur a $20 charge.

Q. What physiotherapy treatments do you offer?

A. Action Physiotherapy offers a wide range of physiotherapy treatment methods. These include McKenzie therapy, ‘hands on’ therapy, Pilates, acupuncture, ultrasound therapy, specific exercise regimes and massage therapy.

Q. What is McKenzie therapy?

A. Also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), the McKenzie Method actively involves and educates the patient. It is used by practitioners and patients all over the world for back pain, neck pain and extremity pain problems.

Q. Can a Physiotherapist sign an ARC 18 (Sick Certificate)?

A. No Physiotherapists cannot sign an Arc 18. It is necessary to make an appointment with your/a Doctor to have that discussion.

Q. Can Physiotherapist prescribe medication ?

A. No Physiotherapists cannot prescribe medication.It is neccessary to consult with  your Doctor for issues regarding medication.
